Requesting VAN Access for Candidates

Candidates for elected office in Michigan can request VAN access for their campaign. There are two requirements for candidate VAN access:

  1.  All candidates must be registered members of the Michigan Democratic Party 30 days before opening a VAN Committee.
  2. We ask all candidates to contribute a VAN fee to help maintain and update our database. The fees are based on the population of the district the candidate is running in.

To request VAN access for a campaign or inquire about the VAN fee for a district, candidates will need to fill out the VAN Access Request Form. Once our team has received your form, we'll follow up with more details and next steps.

Requesting VAN Access for an MDP Chartered Group

The MDP provides VAN access at no cost to all groups with an active charter with the MDP. These groups include:

  • County Parties
  • Local Clubs
  • Constituency Caucuses
  • Congressional Caucuses

If your group doesn't currently have access to its own VAN committee, the Chair of the group can send us an email at van@michigandems.com to request a new VAN committee for the group. This request must come from the Chair, even if someone else will be the main VAN user.

If you're looking for user access to an existing VAN committee for an MDP chartered group, you will need to reach out directly to the group you are seeking access through. All existing VAN committees are able to add their own users.
