Districts and voter addresses both come from the raw voter file. If a voter needs to update their address or district, they should contact their local clerk.

Home District

Home district represents some of the most useful search criteria in VAN and can be used to target your list to specific districts, counties, townships, or even individual districts.

VAN uses nested lists--some options only appear after other options--so specify a county first to view Township and Precinct list options.

To select multiple home districts (like two precincts, or targeted state house districts), click on the name of the district in blue. Blue words in Create a List signify links and allow you to select multiple criteria at once.

Address

The Address section of Create a List is useful for specifying individual streets or address numbers (like if you wanted to create a call sheet for a particular apartment complex). You can also specify a range of zip codes/distance from a zip code, which can be useful for digital targeting. Finally, checking the USPS Verified box will ensure that the post office can deliver to all addresses in your list, which is important when sending direct mail.
