Scripts specify the language that a canvasser or caller will see in miniVAN or a virtual phone bank while speaking to a voter, and defines what data is collected from that conversation.

Every canvass or phone bank needs a script.

When designing a script, there are two types of information that you should think about:

  1. Message

  • Outbound information that you are giving to voters

  • Defined through the “Text” of a script

  1. Data

  • Information that you are collecting from voters

  • Defined through the survey questions included in a script as well as canvass results

When we set up a new committee, we will give you a standard candidate or party support script. However, you should feel free to modify the script to your specific needs and volunteers.

To modify a script, go to your scripts page, select the script you would like to modify, then click “save as” in the upper right.

  • Rename the script and click save.

  • Change the text language, add or remove survey questions as you see fit to create the right script for what you are trying to do.
