August 11th, 2025 - MI VAN Update Email

Hello Fellow VAN Users,

With the August 2025 Primary all wrapped up, we wanted to congratulate everyone on hard run campaigns and let you know about what is coming up next in August.

Voter File Update

The August voter file landed in VAN on August 8th with 22,171 records added.

Post-Primary Updates to Committees

With the primary finished, we are going to start updating committees in Votebuilder. For candidates who are not advancing to the general election, we will be shutting down your committees on August 18th. Make sure you finalize any necessary tasks before that date. For candidates moving on to the general election, we’ll be archiving your primary election question.

All General Support Questions will be provided by the end of day Tuesday, August 12th. If you won your primary but don’t have a general survey question by Wednesday, August 13th, send us an email at van@michigandems.com. Remember to add the General Support Question to your scripts once you have it.

We expect vote history of the August 5th primary election to appear in the September voter file. Once we receive the Voter File from the Secretary of State, it will take between 1-2 weeks before the changes are visible in VAN.


DNC Tech Bootcamp

This past week, our VAN Administrator Mike Owsley traveled to DC for the DNC’s Data & Tech Bootcamp. While there, Mike got a refresher on the support and resources the DNC provides us and got a sneak peak on the roadmap for this upcoming cycle. We are excited to continue working with the DNC to provide resources for Michigan Democrats up and down the ballot!

August Town Hall
